This year, since I am not single I am even more excited for Valentines Day. Not to rub it in, but my anniversary is the next day and so it is exciting. But above that I finally get to live out my passion and that is party/event planning. Since before I could remember I have always been into the glitz and the glam but somehow being behind the scenes. I like the fast, hectic and crazy life to only to see it come together for someone else.
So, my partner and I decided that we would start a tradition surrounding our anniversary and Valentine’s Day. We decided we would throw our first annual Love Fest. We are hoping that this will be something that happens every year. It is our way to saying thank you to the village that we have built of friends turned family. That being said, being the saver I am trying to be I needed to find a way to make my dream come alive, obviously on a budget.
First off we tried to figure out how we were going to tell people about it. We logged on to Evite (a site that provides free e-vites, they have wonderful selections) and picked a save the date and an invitation.
Almost immediately after Christmas passed all of my favorite stores started showing hints of Valentine’s Day things. This was obviously exciting but also timely. When I was thinking about the type of function I wanted this to be I knew, almost immediately that I wanted a bunch of decorations and corny activities for all of our guests to do.
I went to Michael’s with my mother because we had both received a coupon. Saving money is always a good reason to go out and spend some– right? 🙂 Anyways, we get there and I am immediately greeted with a sea of pinks, red, sparkles and burlap. My kind of happiness. I walk over and find classroom activities that come with all of the parts, with very little glue. So I quickly hoped on the opportunity to get the activities.
Right above Michael’s is my happy place. (I mean this literally, when I have a hard day I ask my partner to drive me here.) And that place is Target. Right at the front is my favorite section of the store, Bullseye’s Playhouse. This is the section where there is things are either $1, $3 or some times (rare) $5. As I suspected, they were already stocked with the Valentine’s Day things and here is what I got:
We have also decided on food, and that’s to keep it simple. Pizza, pizza for everyone. Not too exciting. But I am excited for our signature cocktail that we are introducing and of course the classic cosmo! It consists of:
- Mango Juice
- Frozen Strawberries
We don’t have a name for it yet! Please comment below and help us name it! I know this is a much longer post then normal but I wanted to make you guys got all the information and excitement! Don’t worry there will be a follow-up with pictures of the event! But if you want to catch us decorating live follow me on Periscope – @NyasaHndrx and instagram. There are still a few bits and bobs we need to get. I am waiting for some price drops lol.
Anyways, this is my second favorite time of the year( 1st is Christmas Time :)) mostly because I now have people to share it with. That being said, remember that February 14th shouldn’t be the only day that you show love. It is something that you should be happening everyday, because it is worth it.
Loving and rising,
